Time for Anna's to leave

This is the male currently at my oasis. They'll be leaving sometime in January so I'm taking my final photos of them.

Ross's Goose in Alpine

This is the first Ross's Goose I've ever seen in Alpine. It came to our large backyard pond. When I tried to get a closer photo of it, it flew away along with some Mexican Ducks that seemed to be in company with it. I initially ID'd it as a Snow Goose but sharp Texbirders got me straightened out quick. Thanks all.

Anna's iced again

Today he's been feeding even when it was 20º. If you look closely you can see some ice or snow on the underside of his tail. (Alpine)

Well, today it is on its same perch looking none the worse for its icy experience. (Alpine)

This photo speaks for itself. Unlike airplanes, it had no trouble flying with an icy tail. Photo taken in Alpine.
