Lucifer males are starting to display to the females. This one displayed to two different females this morning. One of them ran for cover.
Kelly Bryan took a much better photo of the display here last year which you can see on his website http://westtexashummingbirds.com/
Excellent Lucifer photo, Carolyn!

Thanks Matt. You know how it goes... always thinking it could be sharper, better lighting, etc., but I just have to be glad I got what I got. Actually, I have about 30 shots of the display. Next I want to get nesting photos.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures. One of these days I'll see one in Texas... and Elf Owls.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cameron. You're always welcome to come to my oasis and maximize your chances.
ReplyDeletePerhaps when I am not running all over the southern plains for work I will take you up on that offer. I would love to see the place and maybe you can put me to work for a couple of hours when the birding slows down in the afternoon hours.
ReplyDeleteCameron, we'll have fun whether we get any work done or not.
