That sunset looks like a yellow fire on top of the mountain. I am in twix and between establishing a couple of organizing systems myself! And want to let you know that you've inspired me to keep a running list of the birds and wildlife I have in my back yard area. I never thought about it till reading your blog. Thanks. What you are saying here will help me think of what kind is best for my daily viewing log. Really love the simplicity yet comprehensiveness of your blog. Inspires me. Terri
Thanks, Terri. Your nice words are inspiring to me. What works best for me has always been a yard list that includes all birds (and now one for butterflies and one for dragonflies) besides a daily log. It's really nice to be able to go back and see what was present on a given day. I include the weather and visitors that day too. Notes about a bird, sometimes sketches or photos (I paste the photos in for decoration) Like scrapbooking, it can be simple or complex. I start a new journal every Jan 1st. My favorite is a spiral that I buy at the Alpine bookstore. It has an almost hard cover and comes with a choice of art on the cover and the pages are unlined and nice and thick. A year's worth of notes fits perfectly with a few pages to spare. Once in awhile I check to see how many pages I have left and either add more photos or write smaller, depending on how the space is dividing out. It's about 5" X 7" I've been doing this for about 20 years now.

ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, that does look like a fire on the mountain. I hadn't noticed that before.
