The weather was great; the crew was wonderful, and we got a lot done. The oasis is a happy camper! First oasis workday a success! Thanks to the fun group that showed up bright and early: Michael Gray, DD Curie, Dell Little, Stephanie Neckar, and Bruce St. Romaine. And my husband Hugh arrive with his loader at 7:30 AM.
First we tackled the stucco tank. Made quick work of cleaning it with the crew shoveling the dirt into the bucket.

Next some of us raked the parking area as Hugh spread gravel from the arroyo onto it. (So it won't get muddy during monsoon season.) The rocks we raked out went around the base of the new tank. And while that was happening Michael used his weed eater to widen the paths around the oasis so I won't worry about snake bites so much. The weeds were spread under trees for mulch. So nothing went to waste

Tomorrow I'll patch the stucco tank (Hugh backed the loader into the wall and gouged it in a couple of places), and start putting a puddle of water in it to use to keep a drip under the cottonwood. Things are looking good.

Adequate gravel around tank base finally |
It's so nice to know I have the support of the birding community to keep the place going. Special thanks to the crew today! You guys are awesome!
