Madrone

The madrone that had the sunburned leaves last year is shedding them and replacing them with new leaves. Hopefully, the surrounding trees will give it enough shade this year that the new leaves won't burn.

Well like I said before, quickly get some mycorrhizal colonization going on those roots. It will relieve the heat stress which is why the Texas Madrone is letting some of it's leaves go.

Interestingly, Madrones like Manzanita don't have those tiny roots hairs that other plants have and that's why they need a special microbial symbiot on their root system. I actually went and did a page, not a post on my blog about Mycorrhizae Applications Inc. Take a look at the one photo of a tray of Manzanita seedings. Notice the ones which are colonized with the fungi and those without. The ones with are deep healthy green and lush foliage. The Manzanita seedlings in the control tray without mycorrhizae, just basic nursery care are EXACTLY as you described your yellowed sunburned foliage above here.

Give them a call and tell them you read my page, maybe they give you a deal. Who knows.

See you next week - I'm off to Helsinki Finland.
