Up the mountain

Maybe our last hike/climb ever up, but we made it to the summit. Found some interesting flowers there which may be Arroyo Flameflowers (Talinopsis frutescens), but if they are, they're sure misnamed. Never seen them growing anywhere near an arroyo. Ann is taking specimens to Michael Powell, the local expert. We had seen them elsewhere on the mountain last year but didn't get specimens.

My best find today was Fulvia Checkerspots. They've been documented here before but I had never seen one. Now I have.

Anyone know what kind of grasshopper I found on top of the mountain?

  1. So glad you made it to the summit again. What a view!

    1. Me too. And we're going back up again Friday. It's addicting.
