Son and more sun

I heard on the TV today that the Permian Basin has had 65 consecutive days of near, or over, 100° and no end in sight. I bet the Big Bend can top that easily. And also at the Midland airport they normally have 6" of rain by now for the year. They're at less than half an inch. (CMO is at a little over 3.5" for the year.) Next 10 days more heat and sun.

And my son is really anxious to get moved to the area and start transitioning to care for the oasis. He's working hard on his place in Alpine. It's exciting. Sheet-rocking walls today. Plumbing and electrical done.

What a wonderful thing to happen - he is interested in keeping the Oasis going. And he probably has a realistic idea about what it will take. Ah.

Realistically, I doubt he realizes the commitment, but he does get the amount of work. He loves the work at this point and wants to be down there playing and working all the time. But down the road his wife will want to go visit relatives, or he will, and you just can't do that except during the winter. Other times you can leave only for a few days. Hopefully, he'll value the place enough that he'll be willing to make the sacrifice. He might arrange for a caretaker when he leaves. And we can't predict life, anyway. I might outlive him. Just have to plan the best I can.
