Slow, hot migration day

And lots of gnats. Had birders most of the day. One couple saw a rattlesnake stretched out across a walkway. Scary! They took a photo. It was a Black-tailed. I will walk more awarely henceforth.

Had an Eastern Amberwing, which is earlier in the year than ever before. And I think, not sure, that some pondweed is coming back. Hope so.

Hackberry Emperor*
Here is the reason there aren't hummingbirds at the feeders. Looks like they'll be absent at least another week.

*Brian brought to my attention that Hackberry Emperor is a new oasis species. I just assumed that with all the hackberry trees I have, I had them before. I know I have them in Alpine.
