Tomato time

Last year for some unknown reason our tomatoes didn't thrive. By midsummer they were all dead. Hopefully, they'll do better this year, because I killed myself planting them.

Here's a photo a visitor took at the oasis a few days ago. That darn woodpecker!

That woodpecker is a pain in the patoot to you, but think of the joy he/she will bring to your visitors. To some this will be a life bird. 20 years ago I watched Acorn Woodpeckers drinking from a h'bird feeder on the porch of the Desert Research Center in Ft Davis. It was a sight I will never forget. (Does that make you feel any better about your darned Woodpecker??) :-)

Yes, that does make me feel better. I knew Acorn Woodpeckers were desired by birders. Didn't know Golden-fronteds were.
