Yesterday was drizzly and misty most of the day and the big hill stayed wet. It's rocky and doesn't look like there's not enough traction going up, but there isn't. So when a couple of birders didn't show up when they said they would, Mac decided to go check on them. I was in Alpine.
He drove down the hill. No problem. But coming back up he went too slow for the slick conditions and couldn't make it up. At that point, he should have backed down and tried going up faster. But the problem was, he had his mirrors folded in to protect them from branches along the road and didn't get out and extend them. So he backed too close to the edge of the hill and couldn't go forward or backward.
The birders arrived a couple of hours later in their 4x4, so had no trouble. Other birders came and when they saw Mac's truck stranded on the hill they turned around. By then it was dry enough to get in. I had no trouble coming in this morning.
Today my husband came down in his 4x4 pickup and pulled Mac's pickup out. Lesson well learned by Mac, I'm sure.
After that, I pumped most of the remaining water out of the dirt tank and topped off the two concrete tanks with it. The stucco tank is losing about 2 inches a day, but that's the reason for the new tank, so not stressing over it.
