Alpine day


Hanging out in town catching up work here. I texted the electrician to confirm he'd be to CMO tomorrow (Tuesday) like he said he would. He texted me back saying he'd be there Wednesday. I'm so ready to get this done. If the new breaker box doesn't solve the pump problem then I think I'll go to a ll5v pump. Not going to dig up all the underground lines between the guesthouse and oasis.

Probably overdid yesterday. Had a headache all day, but managed to get the work caught up here. Hugh woke up with a swollen painful foot so had to do more for him than I normally do.

  1. No need to wonder if a breaker box is bad or good. Everything is right there in front of the electrician. If you have 220 volts coming into the box and 220 at the bottom of the box going out under ground the box is good. Any electrician can check that without changing anything.
    Also, he can hook the voltage tester up to the bottom of the box going out to the pump. Run the pump and when it quits have someone watching the voltage meter. If it still shows 220 when the pump quits it's not the panel.

    Just trying to be helpful. No need to replace parts for nothing when they're checked properly.

  2. As far as I understand the voltage going out of the control box to the pump is 240. Then the pump comes on and it drops a little for a few seconds then back up to 240. It sounds simple to me, but yet the pump isn't coming on. He was only here for a couple of hours when it was 105 degrees out, so he needs to do more checking. If I can ever get him back here. He promised he'd come today.

  3. Your right it is simple. Something is wrong past the control box. It's a process of taking one item at a time to locate the section that's malfunctioning. Good luck.

  4. We've put in two new control boxes, a new pump even though the old one was tested and works, new breaker box to pump, new wiring to pump. Shows it's getting 240 volts and the pump works and then when the new pressure switch cuts it off, it won't come on again. Same as with the old pressure switch. No matter what we replace, the problem stays exactly the same. Gotta be the big breaker box at the guesthouse that I can't get the electrician to come replace. If that doesn't fix it, then I'm going to a 115 v pump. Never had to before but I don't want to dig up a block of buried cable. I thought throwing money at a licensed electrician would solve the problem. Not yet.

  5. Very frustrating. I hope that you get it fixed, but all tests don't lead to the breaker box...but I hope I'm wrong. Sorry for all your problem.

    1. Past the new control box is new wire going to a new pump. Yet the problem acts the same as the old stuff there. So I don't see how the problem could be there. Seems it has to be somewhere in the system that we haven't changed yet. That would be underground wire and guesthouse breaker box. Hoping it's the latter.
